About
Hey, I’m Marv.
- 13+ years experience
- in marketing
- Every hat worn
- analyst, developer, team lead, freelancer, owner
- Here to help
- business owners get better at marketing
I’ve spent the last 13 years in marketing, and I’ve done the work. I’ve read the books, joined the communities, sat through the conferences, bought the courses, and wasted plenty of money along the way. I’ve been the analyst, the manager, the developer, the team lead, the freelancer, and the business owner.
I built this site to help business owners get better at marketing. I’m not here to make big promises so I can get rich off you. I’ve bought from people who work that way, and they cared more about my payment than my results. Everything here is meant to be useful to you, whether you buy anything or not.
Where I’ve been
My experience covers most of digital marketing. I’ve analyzed and managed e-commerce operations, run paid ads, managed SEO campaigns, and built and led teams of writers. I’ve built websites, built my own tools when nothing off the shelf did the job, and cleaned up more hacked sites than I can count.
I’ve done that work on corporate teams, at agencies, as a freelancer, and in my own businesses. One of those businesses was an affiliate site I built from scratch, and it made close to $200,000 in revenue. So when I write about strategy, it comes from what I’ve seen work and what I’ve seen fail.
I’ve been burned too
I’ve had clients who didn’t pay, bait-and-switch projects, and people who treated my time like it was free while expecting their project to be everyone’s top priority. I’ve burned out more than once.
I’ve been on the buying side of bad deals too. Many of the courses and academies I paid for followed the same pattern: big promises on the sales page, and a product behind it that was just okay. Not everyone works that way, but enough do that it stopped surprising me.
All of that taught me that this work comes down to two things. The first is being an expert at your craft. The second is using that expertise to help the person on the other end of the deal. The job is to move your clients closer to their goals and fix the problems keeping them stuck. It isn’t to close deals or look impressive.
That belief shapes how I run this site.
What you’ll find here
I write about what I’ve learned in marketing, web design, leadership, and where AI fits into all of it. You’ll also find resources that give you a starting point, so you’re not guessing your way through the work. Everything here has to pass one test: if it doesn’t help you, it doesn’t go on the site.
You won’t find big promises with strings attached. You’ll find what I’ve learned from doing this work for 13 years, in just about every role there is.
Take what helps and put it to work. If something here saves you from a mistake I already made, this site is doing its job.
